WASHINGTON – Today, Anne Filipic, President of Enroll America, issued the following statement regarding the announcement by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to award $67 million in navigator grants:
“Today’s announcement from HHS awarding $67 million to 100 organizations across the country is great news for consumers, and a big step towards making sure in-person assistance is available in every community. We’re pleased that the funding given is an increase from last year, and the three-year time frame of the grant provides the enrollment coalition with stability as we work to make enrollment a way of life for years to come.
“The next Affordable Care Act open enrollment period begins in November, and access to free in-person assistance remains critical to enrollment success, especially since more than 70% of the remaining uninsured think it’s important to talk to someone one-on-one when buying insurance. At Enroll America, we’ll continue to provide our popular consumer tools like the Get Covered Connector, which allows consumers to easily schedule an appointment with an assister; and we’ll launch the new Get Covered Plan Explorer, which will help consumers and assisters work together to find the plan that will best fit their needs and budget. We’ll also continue to support assisters with innovative training programs and the latest research, so they can serve as many consumers as possible in their community. As we gear up for the new open enrollment period, we’re confident that in-person assisters will have the tools, resources, and support to help Americans get covered and stay covered.”
