WASHINGTON, DC – Today Enroll America released an infographic highlighting the more than 6 million consumers it directly engaged leading up to and during the second Affordable Care Act open enrollment period, a significant increase compared to the first enrollment period.
“Though the second open enrollment period was shorter and national attention waned, Enroll America staff, volunteers, and partners were able to reach even more consumers with the information they needed, thanks to a growing presence on the local level, with coalitions working year round to bring enrollment information and assistance to their communities,” said Anne Filipic, President of Enroll America.

The infographic – which doesn’t include the millions of consumers reached through Enroll America’s earned and paid media efforts, or the Ad Council “Take Care People” campaign – highlights documented interactions with more than 6 million individual consumers to encourage them to enroll in health coverage through the Affordable Care Act:
- More than 3.3 million people received emails with information about enrolling in coverage,
- Enroll America staff and volunteers reached out directly to nearly 874,000 consumers in person or on the phone,
- More than 1 million unique visitors saw enrollment information at GetCoveredAmerica.org,
- Nearly 668,000 consumers clicked on or shared posts on social media sites like Twitter and Facebook,
- More than 118,000 people heard an enrollment message directly from a faith leader or another leader in their community, and
- More than 57,000 people scheduled an appointment to meet with an in-person assister through the Get Covered Connector.
The increased reach of the enrollment effort this year was driven by growth in local outreach efforts – for instance, the second enrollment period saw a 32% increase in emails to members from partner organizations like community colleges, faith institutions, and school districts; and a 37% increase in consumers contacted directly by staff and volunteers on the ground in communities.
This Thursday, Enroll America will release the 2015 State of Enrollment Report, which will include more detailed data and observations from the enrollment outreach effort during the second open enrollment period (last year’s report can be downloaded HERE).
