FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Monday, September 8, 2014
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Anne Filipic, president of Enroll America, issued the following statement regarding today’s announcement from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that 90 organizations will receive federal Navigator grants:
“The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ announcement to award $60 million in Navigator grants to 90 organizations in federally-facilitated and state partnership marketplace states shows a strong commitment to ensuring the availability of in-person assistance in communities. Based on what we’ve learned from our data, research, and experience with consumers on the ground, we know that free, local help is critical to reaching enrollment goals. In fact, consumers who received help from an in-person assister during the first open enrollment period were about twice as likely to successfully enroll compared to consumers who attempted to enroll online without help. As the second open enrollment period approaches, we will continue to expand our current partnerships with in-person assisters, help to recruit Certified Application Counselors in the areas that need them most, and host bigger and better enrollment events in communities to connect consumers with the free expert help they need to get covered.”
