WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Anne Filipic, President of Enroll America, issued the following statement regarding the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals ruling in Halbig v. Burwell:

“The decision from the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals today is disappointing, but it’s very important that the millions of Americans who have received financial assistance through the health insurance marketplaces understand that their coverage and tax credits are unaffected by the ruling. While there will be no shortage of incendiary headlines about the Halbig decision, the important thing for consumers to know is that they will keep their tax credits and coverage as this judicial process continues. In fact just today, a different federal circuit court dismissed a case making exactly the same argument against the tax credits. The clear intent of the Affordable Care Act was to give American families access to affordable coverage no matter where they live, and we’re confident that this case – like the case in the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals – will ultimately be dismissed. Enroll America’s vast network of staff and volunteers on the ground are focused on making sure that consumers understand that this decision is not final, and that they still have the peace of mind that comes with affordable insurance.”
