WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Anne Filipic, president of Enroll America, issued the following statement regarding the federal rules for renewing insurance plans purchased through the Health Insurance Marketplace issued by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services:
“For the millions of American families who found the peace of mind that comes with affordable health insurance this year, today’s announcement means an easier path towards renewing that coverage – and that peace of mind – for the coming year. As we recommended last week, the proposal laid out today by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) allows the majority of consumers to keep coverage in 2015 without requiring them to take action, and that is excellent news. Of course, consumers will need to update their marketplace account to ensure they receive all of the financial help for which they are eligible, and we will be working with HHS and partners around the country to make sure consumers have the facts and assistance they need to navigate this transition smoothly. We’re glad to see that HHS has laid out a framework for informing consumers about this critical process; during the public comment period this coming month, we’ll work closely with the members of the national enrollment coalition to further strengthen that plan in order to make sure consumers have the help, the information, and the time they need to get the full tax credit for which they qualify.”
Last week, Enroll America released a list of policy recommendations for the renewal process which can be found HERE.
