WASHINGTON, DC – Today Anne Filipic, president of Enroll America, issued the following statement regarding the enrollment data that the Department of Health and Human Services released this afternoon:
“We’re thrilled that more than 8 million Americans have signed up for private coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace, and that 4.8 million more have gained coverage through Medicaid and CHIP, giving them the peace of mind that comes with quality, affordable health insurance. It is particularly gratifying that many of the states where our hundreds of staff and tens of thousands of volunteers are focused – including Texas, Georgia, New Jersey, Arizona, and Florida – saw some of the largest surges in the country, with Marketplace enrollment more than doubling since March 1 alone. That tidal wave of interest again makes clear the critical importance of our work to spread the word – online, over the phone, at the store, and through churches and schools in neighborhoods all across the country – work that we’ll be continuing at full speed over the coming months in preparation for the next open enrollment period.”
