WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Anne Filipic, president of Enroll America, issued the following statement regarding the resignation of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius:
“As Secretary of Health and Human Services, Kathleen Sebelius presided over one of the largest expansions of health insurance coverage in our nation’s history. Under her leadership, millions of Americans found the peace of mind that comes with affordable, quality health insurance coverage – through Medicaid, through CHIP, and through the Health Insurance Marketplace. Millions more now benefit from the knowledge that they cannot be denied coverage because of a pre-existing condition, and that their insurance cannot be cancelled just when they need it most. Every day, our hundreds of staffers and tens of thousands of volunteers hear moving stories from Americans across the country who are finally able to access the medical care they and their families need, many for the first time ever. Those families – and the millions of families who will benefit in the years to come – represent Secretary Sebelius’s true and lasting legacy.”
