WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Enroll America issued the following statement from their president Anne Filipic in response to the Department of Health and Human Services’ announcement that nearly 2.2 million Americans have enrolled in quality health coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplaces:

“As we reach the midway point of open enrollment, it is clear that the effort to enroll uninsured Americans in affordable coverage is rapidly gaining momentum. The numbers that HHS released today show that 2.2 million Americans have enrolled in Marketplace coverage from October 1 through December 28, and December sign-ups on the marketplaces were five times greater than the total of all sign-ups in October and November. But most striking is the fact that nearly 8 in 10 people have received financial assistance in purchasing their plan. We know from our research that when uninsured consumers learn about the financial help that is available to them, they are eager to enroll. That is why we’ve increased our field staffing, and refocused our message on the tax credits that are available to low and moderate income Americans. Our Get Covered America campaign has already reached millions of consumers online, on their television or radio, over the phone, or at their door, and we’re going to build on that momentum over the next three months.”
