On the 3rd Anniversary of the Affordable Care Act, HHS Secretary Sebelius to join coalition conference call with volunteers at house parties around the country
WASHINGTON, DC – The nation’s leading health care enrollment coalition will mark the third anniversary of President Obama signing the Affordable Care Act (ACA) into law this Saturday by engaging volunteers from 12 states on a conference call with Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius. Enroll America volunteers are building momentum and hosting house parties to begin talking to friends and neighbors about the first opportunity to enroll in the new health coverage beginning in October 2013.
Later this year, Enroll America will officially launch its newly branded campaign, “Get Covered America,” to educate consumers about the benefits of health coverage and the new health care options available to them as the health law is implemented.
Ahead of Saturday’s anniversary Anne Filipic, President of Enroll America released the following statement:
“Three years ago Saturday, the President signed health reform legislation that will give millions of Americans the opportunity to gain access to quality, affordable health insurance beginning this fall. But we know that consumers won’t enroll unless they know about it. That’s why we’ll be engaging Americans in their homes and communities, getting neighbors talking to neighbors, and friends talking to friends about the changes coming, and what the new law means for them and their families.
“In the coming months, Enroll America will use proven and innovative campaign strategies and tactics to reach out to tens of millions of uninsured Americans that will – through the Affordable Care Act – have a chance to gain the financial security, health security, and peace of mind that comes from knowing their families will no longer have to choose between paying the rent or going to the doctor, knowing that there will be no fine-print gimmicks, and knowing that their health plan will be there when their families need it most.”
Enroll America was launched in 2011 to bring together a broad coalition of community and health organizations, insurance companies, and others to inform consumers about the health care marketplace and the process to gain access to quality, affordable health care. Enroll America’s “Get Covered America” campaign will include on-the-ground staff in key states and communities, a comprehensive digital outreach strategy, and paid media to inform and empower consumers with the just-the-facts information they need to make the health care decisions that are right for their families and their unique health situations.
