Welcome to the first-ever Field Academy, a six-week training program hosted by Enroll America’s grassroots field team. The program will train you on the core principals of what a successful outreach and enrollment campaign can look like in your state.
Training sessions will take place every Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. ET starting July 23, 2014, until August 27, 2014. Attendance is requested at all six sessions. The Field Academy syllabus will cover the following areas:
- Week 1: Introduction to the Field Academy
This week’s lesson will review goals of the program and features of the training, and we’ll examine how and why outreach is done.
- Week 2: Affordable Care Act policy review
During this session, need-to-know facts about the Affordable Care Act will be reviewed. Additionally, you will learn about faith and event-based strategies you can implement in your neighborhood.
- Week 3: How metrics can inform your work
Outreach analysis is just as important as doing it, and this week you will be introduced to how to use a database to help assess outreach results. Participants will have the opportunity to access the “Get Covered Database” and enter their outreach efforts.
- Week 4: Running a follow-up program over the phone
This lesson will cover best practices involved with running a phonebank and how to enter the results back into a database. Running a successful phonebanking program is the best way to reach consumers and connect them to coverage.
- Week 5: Enrollment events best practices
Enrollment events are critical to the success of getting consumers covered. This week will cover the core principles involved with running a successful enrollment event and how to partner with assisters in your neighborhood.
- Week 6: Program close and next steps
This session will review the key takeaways from the previous weeks and make a plan to continue this work into the fall. Participants who have attended more than four weeks will receive an Award of Completion.
