The year began with some exciting news as CMS released its biweekly enrollment snapshot for HealthCare.gov states for the period ending December 31, 2016: Marketplace enrollment for 2017 continues to outpace prior years. A total of 8.8 million Americans have signed up for 2017 coverage through Healthcare.gov since the start of the current open enrollment period, an increase of more than 154,000 plan selections compared to a similar point in the third open enrollment period. This includes 2.2 million new consumers and more than 6.5 million re-enrolling consumers (including both active and automatic re-enrollments).
In the last three weeks of the open enrollment period for 2017 coverage, Enroll America and our partners are pushing for a strong finish, to make sure consumers have the information they need in order to enroll in quality and affordable health coverage for the year ahead. The next major deadline is right around the corner: Consumers have until January 15th to sign up for coverage that will take effect starting February 1st.
