Today, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) released their second biweekly enrollment snapshot showing a strong first month of open enrollment! Since the start of OE4 on November 1st, over 2.1 million Americans have selected plans using the Healthcare.gov platform. This figure includes over 500,000 new consumers and roughly 1.6 million people who actively renewed their coverage. The snapshot also shows the first state-by-state breakdown of enrollment figures for this open enrollment period.
To put these enrollment numbers into perspective, that’s an increase of 97,287 total enrollments compared to this time last year. And the pace is picking up! The last two weeks of November represent an increase of 167,000 plan selections compared to the third and fourth weeks of open enrollment last year.
While this has been a great start to OE4, there is still a lot of work to do over the next two months! We have plenty of great events planned, and are looking forward to building on this month’s success with our partners as we mobilize around the coming December 15th deadline (for coverage effective January 1, 2017).
