I recently had the privilege of attending the “#GetTweeting to #GetCovered” and “Digital Plan Making 101” workshops at the State of Enrollment conference. Both workshops were excellent!
As a social marketer for a primary care association (PCA), I understand that social media can be a great way for our health centers to engage with many different audiences, especially when it comes to enrollment. However, our health centers in Nebraska don’t always have the resources they need to use social media and strategize about their digital plans. Being able to go to these workshops really provided me with valuable tools and lessons that I can take back to all of our health centers for them to get started on their digital strategy. Resources such as ways for health centers to reach their audience and provide value to their patients will be key components leading up to the next enrollment period.
Here are some key takeaways and social media lessons learned:
1) Grow followers of your social media platforms: Have links available on your website, allowing for your visitors to follow you without leaving your website.
2) Provide quality content: Engage your audience and think through what your followers are looking for. Provide them with answers to their questions. Use hashtags when possible to track topics and conversations.
3) Integrate online efforts with traditional advertising to maximize enrollment: Don’t underestimate the importance of brand awareness, and make sure all efforts have cohesive and consistent messaging. If an enrollment event is happening, make sure all tactics are used to connect consumers to coverage.
Because of the #SOE2014 conference, I was able to sit down with a few key leaders and we are already starting to put together what our social media schedule will look like and how we can effectively create a digital plan for all of Nebraska! I know that all of our health centers will now be better equipped with social media resources for the next enrollment period. I owe a big thank you to Enroll America for putting on this conference to help with exactly that!
