On top of all the excitement that National Health Center Week is bringing to us here at Enroll America, the office is buzzing for a brand new reason today: the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) just announced $67 million in grant awards to 105 organizations that will serve as navigators for states with federally facilitated and partnership marketplaces.
That’s right. This is not a drill. Today is Navigator Day!
Only 47 days remain until open enrollment, when consumers can get covered by new, affordable health insurance options. And we know that face-to-face, in-person help will make all the difference to make enrollment as effective as possible.
In addition to help over the phone and online, many consumers who will be newly eligible for coverage will want in-person assistance to understand their options and pick the plan that meets their needs and fits their budget.
That’s where the navigators come in. HHS awarded the grants to community-based organizations with localized knowledge and expertise in outreach to specific communities, so consumers can get help from places they already trust and are familiar with. The navigators will know to speak the right languages – and even hang out in the best local bait shops.

Congratulations to the award winners! We look forward to working with them in the months ahead to maximize the number of Americans who enroll in health coverage made possible by the Affordable Care Act.]]>
