CMS Invites Stakeholders to Participate in Regional Teleconferences
Do you know a great way to educate consumers about the new coverage options and enroll them into the new programs? CMS wants your ideas! They are hosting ten regional teleconferences throughout the country next month to solicit input from stakeholders on outreach and public education strategies.
The federal government is getting ready to evaluate the various state plans for state-based health insurance exchanges and establish federal-facilitated exchanges in states without approved local exchanges. They intend to finalize many key aspects of these exchanges in the coming months and some of these decisions will have a significant impact on the way your local health insurance exchange operates and how effective it is at reducing the number of uninsured in your community.
These teleconferences provide a great opportunity for you to weigh in on the design and ongoing evolution of the exchange outreach and enrollment processes in your state. Each regional teleconference is being hosted by a different regional CMS office and will focus on issues relevant to states in that host office's region - see the list at the end of this blog post to find out which CMS region your state is in and how to participate in your region's teleconference.
We hope that these teleconferences are the just the beginning of a CMS strategy to constantly engage key stakeholders on the development of their outreach and public education campaign. With the help of our diverse coalition of stakeholders, Enroll America has organized and participated in a number of similar events throughout the country and found every one of these sessions to be invaluable to the successful development and distribution of effective enrollment messages.
Don't confuse these regional teleconferences with the four in-person Affordable Care Act implementation forums scheduled over the next two weeks in Washington D.C. (August 14), Atlanta (August 15), Chicago (August 21), and Denver (August 22). The four implementation forums are full-day, in-person events where stakeholders will be given the opportunity to learn more about next steps in implementation and to ask questions regarding the establishment of the insurance exchanges.
If you are interested in either the newly announced teleconferences or the in-person implementation forums, register quickly as spots will likely fill up very fast. Registration is already closed for the in-person forums next week in Washington, D.C. and Atlanta.
